Ballynahinch Youth 3 v 1 Lisburn Ladies
A friendly game with Lisburn Ladies on Tuesday 13 March 2012 at St Colmans High School gave a run out to the Under 13 girls squad as they begin their preparation for the season ahead. It was a great opportunity to give all the girls some playing time especially for the new players who had not played a competitive game. Ballynahinch started brightly scoring two goals in the opening minutes from Olivia MacDonagh and Aine Smyth. Lisburn had their chances but found Lauren Perry in goals in top form. Danielle Connolly and Ciara Irvine were strong at the back and linked up well with Cara Murray and Anna Smyth in midfield. Up front the skillful Olivia MacDonagh and the runs of Aine Smyth caused problems for Lisburn. The second half saw all the substitutes introduced and within minutes Amy Coburn was unlucky not to score. In midfield Emily Rice and Leah Milsom worked hard on their debuts. At the back Kathryn Cousins and Connie Burtney were having a testing time as the Lisburn forwards ran at them but stood up to the task. Midway through the half Lisburn pulled a goal back when they scored from a corner. Jessica Fennell came on and settled in well to her defensive role. With Lisburn pushing for an equaliser Ballynahinch broke and Aine Smyth saw her shot beat the keeper to increase the lead. The game went from end to end with the Lisburn keeper pulling off some excellent saves mostly from Amy Coburn who was unfortunate not to score. This was a super game played in a sporting manner by both teams.
